Today, my mentee and I got breakfast together in the cafeteria. After that, we went upstairs and talked about how her STAAR test went. We talked about how excited she is about her upcoming school dance. She also expressed to me that she got in contact with some old friends of hers and has made a new friend in one of her classes!

I had gathered resources and information about summer athletics programs/ camps for my mentee. During our last session, she had told me that she isn't excited about being home for the summer, so we discussed (free) opportunities for her to get out of the house and moving around for the summer, especially since she is active on her schools' track, dance, and tennis teams.
My mentee and I discussed some changes that are going on for her at home and how she is handling this transition period. We highlighted silver linings in the situation while trying to empower her. We also went to the school library where I helped her pick out books to read after her STAAR test tomorrow. We then sat on the balcony and discussed explicitly what she needs from me as a mentor and provided her with the opportunity to continue our mentor pairing through next year!
Today, my mentee and I met and just talked! She's having a difficult time with friends and conflict with peers, so I tried to lend her an ear. I encouraged her to practice perspective-taking while reassuring her feelings. We also talked about things that she can do over the summer once she is home.
Attended APIE's Mentoring Matters Fashion show. I was able to meet other mentors and their mentees, including a mentor who had been mentoring her mentee from 3rd-12th grade. I was able to explore other mentoring opportunities and resources that are available in the Austin area. I listened to keynote speakers and why mentoring is important to youth in communities.
My mentee and I today caught up from the previous week. We discussed some intrapersonal conflict going on, her past weekend spent with her Granny, and colleges she thinks she would want to attend! She also showed me this movie she has been watching as well as a song she is learning to play on the piano.
Today with my mentee we discussed optimism for high school, potential colleges/ universities and majors, and careers. We talked about upcoming anxiety for the STAAR test as well as how her friends are doing.
Today with my mentee, we caught up from spring break! We talked about how she celebrated her birthday, her new friends, and played uno.
My mentee and I caught up after spring break today. We talked about how her extracurriculars are going, her friendships at school, as well as things she is looking forward to academic wise, such as being in high school and being in student-run clubs!
